February 28th, 2024 the entire application package must be submitted by this date. The REU Application for 2024 will close at 11:59 pm Febrary 28, 2024.
Mach 5, 2024, complete review of all completed application packages.
March 27, 2024 offers to the selected students are sent out. Students will have a week to accept or decline their offer. Applicants that were found competitive but did not make the highly competitive category will be placed on a wait-list until offers have been accepted or declined.
April 7, 2024 Deadline for the selected students to accept or decline the offer.
April 17, 2024 Notification of the students who have not been selected for the Program.
By May 8th, Student groups are paired with Research Mentors based on the availability and input from the student survey and Research Mentor.
May 26, 2024 Selected REU participants arrive at OU in Norman Oklahoma. Students can move into the university dorms by this date.
May 27, 2024 This is the first day of the 10-Week Summer REU-Site Program. The program will be hosted at the School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AME) in Felgar Hall (FH). FH is home to the AME school. The first day of the program will be devoted to an orientation/tours/meeting other students and research mentors. In the morning section students will meet the Research Mentors, tour of the university library, a campus tour, and pick up student ID cards. In the afternoon section students will tour several facilities including the AME machine shop, Willoughby Lounge, Collaboratory Room, the DroneDome, the Wind tunnel, the Psychrometric Chamber, Full-size Test Loop Station Open Lab, Samuel Roberts Noble Electron Microscopy Laboratory and if there is time the Kessler Atmospheric and Ecological Field Station (this may take place in two days if needed).
July 30, 2024 Final Group Research Presentations.
July 31, 2024 (end of day), Final Written Report due.
August 2, 2024 Last day of the program and feedback on final group presentations and final written reports.
